Slowdown be damned! Business travellers still flocking to Brazil ...

So Brazil?s economy is slowing down. That means business travellers are not coming anymore, right? Wrong.

Research from the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) shows that business travel spending in Brazil has nearly tripled over the past 12 years.

From 2000, when the people in suits spent a total of $11bn, business travel expenditure has grown on average by 8 per cent per year to over $30bn in 2012. The forecast for this year is even better, up 14.3 per cent to $34.5bn. This from GBTA:

Brazil?s business travel industry has been performing strongly compared to other developed markets. Brazil is currently ranked 8th in the world, up one place from 2011. With current growth rates, Brazil is forecast to continue its rise through the rankings as a major business travel market, overtaking Italy, France and the UK over the next two years.

The rise in business travel in spite of a weaker economic performance is probably explained by Brazil?s resilient rate of foreign direct investment, which hit a high of $65bn last year. Foreigners are still attracted by the country?s booming consumer market.

The harder thing now for Brazil will be to offer visitors a better experience when they get here, such as more affordable hotels and flights. The problems occur especially when Brazil hosts big international events.

But then again, look how far things have come. There was a time when Brazil, especially Rio de Janeiro, used to scare off most visitors because of the high rates of violence but community policing has improved the situation, at least in some areas. Compared to that, increasing the number of hotel rooms must be an easy task.

New survey shows 1 in 5 Americans last year claimed no organized faith

Religious affiliation in the United States is at its lowest point since it began to be tracked in the 1930s, according to analysis of newly released survey data by researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, and Duke University. Last year, one in five Americans claimed they had no religious preference, more than double the number reported in 1990.

UC Berkeley sociologists Mike Hout and Claude Fischer , along with Mark Chaves of Duke University, analyzed data on religious attitudes as part of the General Social Survey, a highly cited biannual poll conducted by NORC, an independent research institute at the University of Chicago.

Results of the survey which looked at numerous issues, including attitudes about gun ownership and how tax dollars should be spent, and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation are being released now and in coming weeks.

On American attitudes toward religion, UC Berkeley researchers found that 20 percent of a nationally representative group reported no religious preference. That's a jump from 1990 when all but 8 percent of Americans polled identified with an organized faith.

"This continues a trend of Americans disavowing a specific religious affiliation that has accelerated greatly since 1990," said Hout, lead author of the study.

Hout and Fischer are authors of the General Social Survey study that in 2002 first identified a rise in the number of "unchurched." They are careful to distinguish the survey category of "no religion," which means individuals who are not part of an organized religion, from "atheists," who do not believe in God and made up just 3 percent of those interviewed last year. Meanwhile, just 8 percent of those surveyed said they were raised with no religion.

Responses in the survey were to the question, "What is your religious preference? Is it Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, some other religion, or no religion?"

An analysis of the results suggests the following:

  • Liberals are far more likely to claim "no religion" (40 percent) than conservatives (9 percent)
  • Men are more likely than women to claim "no religion" (24 percent of men versus 16 percent of women).
  • More whites claimed "no religion" (21 percent) compared to African Americans (17 percent) and Mexican Americans (14 percent).
  • More than one-third of 18-to-24-year-olds claimed "no religion" compared to just 7 percent of those 75 and older.
  • Residents of the Midwestern and Southern states were least likely to claim "no religion" compared to respondents in the Western, Mountain and Northeastern states. But Midwesterners and Southerners are catching up, Hout said.
  • Educational differences among those claiming "no religion" are small compared to other demographic differences.
  • About one-third of Americans identify with a conservative Protestant denomination, one-quarter are Catholics (although 35 percent were raised Catholic) and 1.5 percent are Jewish.

###

The General Social Survey has been tracking major social and cultural trends in American society since 1972, when only 5 percent of those polled claimed no religion. Since 1990, an uptick in those identifying themselves as following no particular religion has progressed steadily with 18 percent identifying as such in 2010 and 20 percent in 2012.

Dominican Republic rallies past Italy 5-4 in WBC

(AP) ? Robinson Cano pumped his fist. Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez danced together near home plate. Fernando Rodney pointed to the sky after the final out.

The Dominican Republic is unbeaten and having fun in the World Baseball Classic.

Nelson Cruz's two-out, RBI single broke a seventh-inning tie, and the Dominicans overcame an early four-run deficit Tuesday to beat Italy 5-4.

Cano had three hits, including his second home run in the WBC. He led a comeback that had his teammates laughing and celebrating every hit in front of their dugout.

"That's something you never see in the big leagues," Cano said. "Here we get a chance to come out and give high-fives to the guys. We can jump around. Nobody sees you trying to show somebody up. It's more about the chemistry on the team. We're all excited to be here, and we've all got a mission to win."

Italy hitting coach Mike Piazza said his team noted the Dominicans' demeanor.

"Some enhanced theatrics," Piazza said. "It's not what we're used to, but hey, you have to go to with it and have fun. It's unorthodox for me. Obviously in a 162-game season you're not going to be seeing that, so you have to just let it roll off your back."

The Dominicans (4-0) advanced to a winner's-bracket game Thursday night in the double-elimination second round.

Cano's homer off the upper-deck facade in right field made the score 2-all in the sixth. Reyes also homered, and celebrated with Ramirez after crossing the plate.

"This team has a lot of emotion," manager Tony Pena said. "They kept talking in the dugout ? 'We're going to come back and win the game.'"

Chris Colabello hit a three-run homer, his second, to give Italy a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

The Dominicans trailed 4-2 in the seventh, when they loaded the bases with one out on consecutive singles by Reyes, Erick Aybar and Cano off Pat Venditte (0-1).

Edwin Encarnacion walked to force in a run, and Ramirez tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

Cruz followed with a broken-bat, two-out single to give the Dominicans their first lead. Cruz has six RBIs in four games, while Cano hiked his average to .632 (12 for 19) with six RBIs.

"My interest is to win," Cano said. "We're having a really good time."

The New York Yankees second baseman was annoyed in the seventh when Italy's Nick Punto slid hard into second base on an inning-ending forceout.

"I was upset," Cano said. "I don't care if you slide on a double play, but when it's a forceout, the last thing you want to do is get hurt."

The crowd of 14,482 was festive for the opening game in Miami, with horn-honking and chanting by Dominican fans who created a steady din. The retractable roof, closed for all but eight Marlins games last year, was open on an 80-degree afternoon.

Pedro Strop (2-0) threw a scoreless seventh. Rodney, who has yet to allow a hit in four appearances, reached 98 mph on the radar gun when he pitched a hitless ninth for his third save.

Five relievers limited Italy to one hit and no runs over the final 4 2-3 innings.

"You're facing some hard throwers in that bullpen," Colabello said. "They're got pretty good stuff."

Early wildness plagued Dominican starter Edinson Volquez, who threw only one of his first 13 pitches for a strike as he walked the bases loaded. Alex Liddi's sacrifice fly made it 1-0, and Colabello followed with a homer.

"Four runs was one too few," Colabello said. "I don't think any lead is comfortable, especially in this format."

Volquez allowed four runs in 4 1-3 innings.

"Our pitching after the first inning did a great job," Pena said.

Tiago Da Silva went 5 1-3 innings for Italy and allowed two runs, both on homers. The Italians play in a losers'-bracket game Wednesday.

"They're obviously an All-Star caliber team," Piazza said. "Obviously we are disappointed. We have to just try and inch back tomorrow and hopefully pick up a 'W' and keep going."

Elizabeth Petrakis, Millionaire's Wife, Gets Prenup Thrown Out

In a rare move, a Brooklyn appellate court has decided that a prenuptial agreement between a Long Island woman and her millionaire husband will be thrown out, the New York Post first reported.

"It's virtually unheard of," Dennis D'Antonio, the attorney for Elizabeth Petrakis, told The Huffington Post. "To a large degree, this has upset the heretofore common thinking that prenups were not subject to challenge. ... Now there's precendent for vacating a prenup. It's a big deal."

According to D'Antonio, three months before the couple's 1998 wedding, Peter Petrakis presented his bride with a prenup stipulating that all assets acquired during their marriage would remain his in the event of the divorce.

Elizabeth Petrakis was guaranteed $25,000 for every year the couple was married. When she refused to sign the prenup -- and still hadn't done so four days before the wedding -- Peter Petrakis is said to have promised that he would tear up the agreement after the two had children.

D'Antonio explained to HuffPost that his client's husband is currently worth between $20 and $30 million. Peter Petrakis never made good on his promise about the prenup, and his failure to do so was enough to convince the courts that fraud had occurred, said D'Antonio.

"It's fraud where someone lies to you, or tricks you into doing something on the basis of a lie, that you wouldn't have otherwise done," D'Antonio said of the Petrakis prenup. "That was the grounds for challenging it."

D'Antonio said he's gotten dozens of calls from people inquiring about their prenups in the hours since the New York Post's story was published.

Stephen Gassman, a lawyer for Peter Petrakis, was not immediately available for comment.

Though they're often dubbed unromantic, prenuptial agreements have grown increasingly common in recent years: A 2011 survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers found that prenups had increased 73 percent over a five-year period.

A 2010 Harris Interactive poll of over 2,000 adult singles found that almost a third would ask for a prenup before walking down the aisle.

The overturning of these agreements tends to be a rare occurrence but, as Reuters previously reported, there are circumstances under which prenups get overturned.

Paul Talbert, a New York attorney, told the news outlet that one of the more common reasons a prenup ends up failing is because of simple errors in paperwork. Though the laws vary by state, prenuptial agreements can also get thrown out if one person was hiding assets or if coercion was involved.

As ABC News has noted, divorce lawyers looking to get their clients out of a prenup will often focus on the timing of the agreement. If the prenup is presented relatively soon before the wedding, then the lawyers can potentially argue that there wasn't enough time for their client to vet the agreement's stipulations.

The ABC further pointed to one of the most famous prenups, involving Steven Spielberg and his ex-wife Amy Irving. The $100 million agreement, which was reportedly signed on a bar napkin, was thrown out.

Cardinal hints at task facing church

Ghazi Balkiz / NBC News

Cardinal Francis George sits during mass at San Bartolomew Church in Rome, on Sunday.

By Alastair Jamieson, Keir Simmons and Yuka Tachibana, NBC News

ROME ? An American cardinal in Rome hinted Sunday at the difficulty of deciding who should be the next pope, saying the papal conclave was a time when ?the will of God is not entirely clear.?

Chicago?s archbishop, Cardinal Francis George, asked for ?help and prayers? as he and 114 other cardinals prepared to enter the papal conclave to elect a successor to Pope Benedict XVI.

?I ask you for your prayer to help the Holy Spirit to be present among us to open our hearts and our minds to what is the will of God ?for his people throughout the world," he?told reporters after saying mass at the local church assigned to him during his stay in Rome.

He added: "This is a momentous occasion, when perhaps the will of God isn't entirely clear to many of us."

Vatican observers say the choice is wider than it has been in modern memory, with no emerging consensus on who should be the next leader of the world?s 1.2 billion Catholics.

George, 76, will enter the conclave on Tuesday afternoon along with fellow Americans including Cardinal Tim Dolan, Archbishop of New York and Cardinal Sean O'Malley of Boston.?

In a sign of the speculation that a U.S. cardinal could be the next pope, there was a huge media presence at the Santa Maria della Vittoria where O?Malley appeared to bring star power to Sunday?s mass.

Carol Grisanti / NBC News

The Bernini sculpture, The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, at Santa Maria della Vittoria church in Rome, where Father Sean O'Malley said mass on Sunday.

?My goodness, the church hasn't been this full in a long time,? joked one priest. ?Did you see that?? whispered one nun to another as O?Malley swept into the church, blessing the congregation with holy water while television crews looked on.

?Let us pray that the holy spirit will give us the guidance to choose the next pope,? he said, before expressing gratitude to the congregation and gesturing to the church?s chief attraction ? a Bernini sculpture, ?The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa,? which was featured in Dan Brown?s novel ?Angels and Demons.?

But it was the media-savvy Dolan who had the best lines for reporters outside?his assigned local church, Our Lady of Guadalupe in the blue-collar district of Monte Mario.

Speaking about the choice facing him and his fellow cardinals, he said: ?They have a saying in Italy: ?You can only make gnocchi with the dough you?ve got.??

He also hinted that he hoped the new pope would be in place by March 19, which is St. Joseph?s Day.

?Wouldn?t it just be beautiful if we could have a new pope on St. Joseph?s Day?? he told reporters.

Cardinal George gave communion at the 10th century Basilica of St. Bartholomew, which has a dramatic setting on Tiber Island in the middle of the Tiber River.

Children among the congregation lined up for his blessing during the service.

?It was a very special day for the young ones,? said Francesca Scambia, 49, whose children Massimo, 13, and Tommaso, 10, were among those to be blessed as about 200 worshippers looked on.

?It is great for us to see a cardinal, particularly at this important time for the church as they prepare to enter the conclave, and it was a nice service,? she said.

George, who was born in Chicago and suffered from polio as a child, underwent bladder cancer surgery six years ago and was last year treated again after more cancerous cells were found in his kidneys.

Open mic night reveals students' talents - The Linfield Review

Junior Max Milander performs an original piece titled ?Frost Bitten Grass? at the open mic Cat Cab on Feb. 28 in the Fred Meyer Lounge.
Sarah Mason/Staff writer

The lights dimmed in the Fred Meyer Lounge on Feb. 28 as a crowd gathered for the Cat Cab. This wasn?t about to be a normal Cat Cab, Thursday?s show was ?open mic,? inviting students who wouldn?t normally step up for their own show to showcase their musical talents.

?
Twelve different Wildcats performed raps, strummed the guitar, sang, played the keyboard and even got a few laughs out of the audience. Needless to say, a medley of harmonious talents were showcased throughout the evening.

?
The first performers of the evening were sophomore Jessica Newton and the master of ceremony senior Jenny Morgan who sang ?Just The Way You Are? by Bruno Mars.
Junior Max Milander, the vice president of Linfield?s concert choir, performed an original piece on the keyboard called ?Frost Bitten Grass.? Milander sang while wearing his signature, shiny aviator shades in honor of Ray Charles.

?
Next up, the crowd was honored with an appearance by the legendary Real Cal Hal. The sophomore performed snippet a capella flow versions of his two unreleased songs, ?The Realest? and ?Bass Go Boom.? The raps talked about Northwestern culture flannels, cargo shorts, shopping at REI and the rain.
Sophomore Katricia Stewart, who had a Cat Cab during January Term, performed a solo next. Stewart strummed her guitar while belting out an Otis Redding song ?Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay? and ?Like A Star? by Corinne Bailey Rae.

?
Barefooted senior Lucas Cook was next in the Cat Cab lineup. Although he ?felt nervous in his belly,? Cook delivered his ?intuitive work? on the keyboard almost effortlessly. He played only the pentatonic scale, the black keys, which allowed him to make up the work on the spot.
The next number was unlike any performance the crowd had seen, or rather heard, all night.
Junior Gavin Broussard dedicated his act to his close friend, senior Andrew Gladhill, who was supporting him in the audience. Gladhill howled with laughter, as did the audience, as Broussard serenaded him on the guitar with Chester See?s ?Bromance,? a catchy jingle about heterosexual love between two men.

?
Sophomore Ian Cox followed with a medley of three jazz songs from the Prohibition Era. The upbeat music was written by Scott Joplin, the ?King of Ragtime,? but Cox arranged the three-song medley himself. Cox transitioned between ?Easy Winners,? ?Maple Leaf Rag? and ?Pineapple Rag.?

?
Following Cox?s performance was senior Liza Dadoly. Dressed in sparkly tights, she sang and played her guitar to two different songs. The audience clapped along as she sang an original piece she wrote during the summer. Dadoly also performed her favorite Melissa Etheridge song ?Angels Would Fall.?

?
Newton made another appearance to duet with freshman Bryce Fechner. The two harmonized while singing ?Last Night,? an original piece written by Fechner.
Sophomore Cody Meadows, on the bongo, and Cox, on the keyboard, joined the pair to perform ?Sunrise? by Norah Jones. Fechner strummed the ukulele while Newton sang.
Morgan summoned freshman Logan Mays up to the stage to sing ?You Belong to Me? on the keyboard, he dedicated the song to his best friend.

?
Senior Evan O?Kelly and junior Shayli Coppock kicked off a proceeding of upperclassmen performances. The duo played the guitar and sang to ?If I Didn?t Know Better? by the Civil Wars.
Senior Anna Sours and O?Kelly sang ?Will You Return?? by The Avett Brothers, reminisced with good friend senior Bridget Grant and dedicated a second song ?Hello,? by Schuyler Fisk to her.

?
O?Kelly accompanied senior Mickey Inns, former Linfield star quarterback, who wooed the audience by singing ?A Team? by Ed Sheeran and ?Save Him? by Justin Nozuka.
The night drew to a close as the final musicians O?Kelly and Kayla Hamm sang ?Stay? by Rihanna and ?Locked Out Of Heaven? by Bruno Mars.
O?Kelly was a huge hit during the night.
?The original plan was actually just to do a few songs with Mickey,? O?Kelly said. ?As the date got closer, I kept thinking of people who I like to jam with and it just turned into a group of seniors.?
O?Kelly will have his own Cat Cab, which will feature other students and will be his final performance as a student at Linfield on April 18.

Mobile Phone Spying Software: Legality, Symptoms, and Removal

Introduction

At present, there are many websites offering mobile phone spying software. Typical examples of such websites are SpyBubble (http://www.spybubble.com/), Mobile-Spy (http://www.mobile-spy.com/), and Stealthgenie (http://http://www.stealthgenie.com/). By installing mobile phone spying software, one can keep track of the information exchanged over the tracked phone, including SMS text messages and phone calls. Moreover, most mobile phone spying software tracks the GPS location of the phone user. This is possible because a mobile phone constantly sends and receives signals to the nearest transmitter while it?s switched on.

It should be noted that mobile phone spying software is evolving quickly. A Japanese company called KDDI Corporation has recently developed technology that tracks even the tiniest movements of a mobile phone user and then beams the information back to the main headquarters. The software produced by the company works by analyzing the movement of accelerometers which are found in many handsets. As a result, the software may identify activities such as walking, climbing stairs or even cleaning. The company stated that it is going to sell the service to clients, including managers, foremen and employment agencies.

While the technological developments in the mobile spying field are welcomed by companies, human rights lawyers express their concerns regarding the potential abuse of privacy rights. Kazuo Hizumi, a human rights lawyer, stated that ?It beggars belief that a prominent company such as KDDI could come up with such a surveillance system. It?s totally irresponsible.?

This article investigates whether the sale (Section 2) and the use (Section 3) of mobile phone spying software is legal. Also, the article examines the symptoms indicating that mobile phone spying software has been installed on a phone (Section 4) and provides instructions on how to remove mobile phone spying software (Section 5). Finally, a conclusion is drawn (Section 6).

The sale of mobile phone spying software
In the US and in many other countries, the sale of mobile phone spying software is legal. This is because companies providing mobile phone spying software always add a disclaimer stating that it is the responsibility of the user to ensure that he/she complies with all applicable laws. For example, a part of the disclaimer of Mobile-Spy reads as follows:

?It is a federal and state offense in most countries to install monitoring/surveillance software onto a phone which you do not own or have proper authorization to install. It may also be an offense in your jurisdiction to monitor the activities of other individuals. Check all state, federal and local laws before installing any Cell Phone Spy Software such as Mobile Spy. You must always notify a person they are being monitored if they are over age 18. Federal or local law governs the use of some types of software; it is responsibility of the user to follow such laws.?

Basically, all companies say that the buyers of their software are solely responsible for complying with the applicable laws. In reality, many people will ignore the law and use this software for unlawful purposes. So, while the sale of mobile phone spying software is completely legal, it certainly raises moral concerns.

Companies selling such software know that many buyers will use it illegally. It is difficult to believe that someone who wants to know whether or not his spouse is cheating on him will ask her for permission to install mobile phone spying software on her phone. Nevertheless, many providers of this software advertise their product as a means to catch a cheating spouse.

The use of mobile phone spying software

As long as the user complies with the applicable laws, there is nothing illegal in the use of mobile phone spying software. However, the illegal use of such software may have harsh consequences for the person violating the laws. US federal law allows recording of phone calls and other electronic communications with the consent of at least one party to the call, and a majority of states and territories have adopted laws based on the federal standard. It should be noted, however, that twelve states require the consent of all parties to the call under most circumstances. These twelve states are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington. For more about the state and federal laws in the US, please look at the comprehensive guide to Electronic Surveillance Laws published by National Conference of State Legislatures, which is available at http://www.ncsl.org/issues-research/telecom/electronic-surveillance-laws.aspx.

Below, I discuss the use of mobile phone spying software for monitoring children, employees, and spouses.

Children

In most countries, it is legal for parents to monitor the phones of their children since they are responsible for their children?s safety. With such software, parents have the opportunity to use an additional safety option in case they have problems with their children. For example, a testimony published on the website of Mobile-Spy states:

?Our daughter stole our truck, bank cards, credit cards and the phone. The only way to find her was by tracking the SMS with your software. The police were able to catch her with the messages. We would not have caught her as fast as we did without Mobile Spy. Adam D?

Employees

In the US, employers may generally monitor and even record their employees? phone conversations with a few restrictions. In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the laws of California require that all parties of any conversation are informed that they are being recorded or monitored. The parties should be informed either by putting a beep tone on the line or playing a recorded message (See California Public Utilities Commission General Order 107-B, www.cpuc.ca.gov/Published/Graphics/567.pdf).

By tracking the cell phones of employees, the employer may not only receive information about the working habits of their employees, but also find out if there is leak of confidential information. For example, in a testimonial published on the website StealthGenie, a Mr. B. Cortes states:

Want to learn more?? The InfoSec Institute Ethical Hacking course goes in-depth into the techniques used by malicious, black hat hackers with attention getting lectures and hands-on lab exercises. While these hacking skills can be used for malicious purposes, this class teaches you how to use the same hacking techniques to perform a white-hat, ethical hack, on your organization. You leave with the ability to quantitatively assess and measure threats to information assets; and discover where your organization is most vulnerable to black hat hackers. Some features of this course include:
  • Dual Certification - CEH and CPT
  • 5 days of Intensive Hands-On Labs
  • Expert Instruction
  • CTF exercises in the evening
  • Most up-to-date proprietary courseware available

?I had serious doubts that one of my employees was leaking some confidential information. I tried to monitor him but I couldn?t really figure out the truth. I installed StealthGenie in his phone and then I got to view on the online interface some pictures of very important documents that were confidential and were sent to our competitor and his texts showed that he was being paid a heavy amount to steal the information. I called him in the office, showed him all the details and fired him immediately. All thanks to StealthGenie due to which I was able to save my business in time otherwise I would have been stripped completely and my competitors would have been way ahead from my company.?

Spouses

In the US and many other countries, monitoring of spouses without their permission is illegal. Moreover, the information obtained through illegal monitoring will not serve as evidence in a court of law. So, while knowledge typically is power, in this case it can be a limited power.

Symptoms indicating that mobile phone spying software has been installed on a phone

The following four symptoms indicate that spying software has been installed on a mobile phone: (1) unusually high bill, (2) battery drain, (3) shut down problems, and (4) appearance of new icons. These symptoms are examined in detail below.

An unusually high bill for mobile phone services may be a result of the numerous connections required by spying software for the transfer of secretly recorded data. Battery exhaustion can also be caused by the continuous running of the software, as it will always be active in the background to be able to record events such as incoming/outgoing messages, call history, and GPS location. This background activity often causes problems when a person attempts to shut his/her mobile phone. New icons may appear because the operation of mobile phone spying software requires data connection.

Removal

It is a widely spread myth that, if a phone call is monitored, the participants in the call should hear a noise. In this regard, it should be pointed out that, normally, spying software emits no audible sounds. Such software works in complete stealth mode without leaving any kind of trace behind. Without expert advice, the person, whose phone is being spied on, will never detect the spying software that?s installed on his/her cell phone.

In case a person thinks that mobile spying software may be installed on his phone, the best he/she can do is to request from the seller of the phone to restore it to factory settings and clear out any hidden software installed in it. If mobile spying software is found to be illegally installed on a person?s phone, that person should immediately notify his/her local law enforcement officials.

Conclusion

This article has shown that the sale and use of mobile phone spying software can be completely legal. When used properly as monitoring devices, mobile phone spying software can be very beneficial. Employers, parents, police forces, as well as security experts, are potential lawful customers of mobile phone spying software. That is why providers of such software can advertise and market their products lawfully over the Internet. It is up to the user of the software to comply with any applicable laws. The sanctions for unlawful monitoring of a person?s phone may consist of imprisonment, fines, damages, and attorney?s fees.

While presently anyone who can perform a basic Internet search can find out how to install a mobile spying application and install it in two minutes? time, not much information concerning the legal consequences of using such software is available. This is exploited by companies who advertise their software with statements such as ?Catch a Cheating Spouse,? ?the monitored phone?s user will never know that they are being monitored,? ?Since 2005, we have helped catch thousands of cheating partners,? and others.
